Ibuki Health and Wellness - Noosa - Medical Health and Longevity - Ayurveda & Meditation
AYURVEDA is a Sanskrit word which means 'the science of lifespan'. It is a system of preventative health care that arose in India some 5,000 years ago and is recognized by the World Health Organization.
In essence, Ayurveda helps to address the whole person and provide a system whereby the body’s own inner intelligence is able to correct imbalances before disease develops. The Vedic texts suggest that it is a lack of self-interaction - disconnectedness from the Source - that causes parts of the body to suffer.
Ayurveda recognizes individual psycho-physiology and discusses these in terms of governing principles called Doshas. An understanding of these principles enables a practitioner to address diet and lifestyle changes which assist in restoring balance to the physiology. This will also include an understanding of how important our mind is in the process of regulation both of our emotions and our body, and so the regular practice of meditation is encouraged.
"He whose doshas are in balance, whose appetite is good, whose dhatus are functioning normally, whose malas are in balance, and whose Self, mind and senses remain full of bliss, is called a healthy person" - Sush.Su 15.38

MEDITATION
Transcendental Meditation is a way of reflecting on the state of the mind by becoming an observer. There is no wrong way to meditate. When you find yourself 'thinking' you attempt to distance yourself from your thoughts, this can allow for ‘space’ within the mind.
Regular practice of meditation can have helpful health benefits such as enhanced relaxation and stress reduction and even more tangible benefits such as lowering blood pressure.
Dr Rosie Howard is available for individual guided meditation sessions or group classes on demand.
